Up up and away

Goofing around at work and...
...spending after-working hours at the beach is what we do best!

Will be right back in no time! Off to Singapore office for now :)

Since it's the sale season in Singapore, my colleagues and I have packed....our passports. One work dress for me and an empty luggage! Super!

They Want You!

Today, I got a call from ACICC Malaysia, an advertising agency asking if I am interested to do a casting. They are searching for talents to do shoots! I was told that ACICC does shootings for photography, corporate videos and annual reports to name some.

I’m pretty swamped with work and travelling this month so I thought I might not have enough time to go for the casting. In turn, they told me to ask those who are interested and recommend people. If you are interested, what they will do is basically find a time slot for you, do a couple of shoots, fill up some forms about yourself and background and wa-lah! Your end product from the casting will be sent over to interested clients, and these clients will then choose and decide on the pay for you, if they choose you.

Check out the website here. Opportunities like this are fun trust me! I’ve experienced it before. It’s quite embarrassing when your friends see you on billboards and ads sometimes but it’s already fun when you’re doing the casting really! :)

So to those who are interested to give this a go, do email me and put 'ACICC' as your subject! I’ll get back to you via email if you need further information! :)

Jetlagged

After my first flight out of Vietnam yesterday, I had to rush for Vivy’s bridal shower (which was so fun! I shall blog about it soon. If not just read her blog lah), then off for Father’s day dinner before speedy supper date night. To add to that, I only fell asleep at midnight, Vietnam time. I am jetlagged!

Of course I had the most difficult time waking up today, so my colleague decided to get me red bull at work, which I have never had before. When I was younger, I used to think it was not halal, coz the packaging looks funny. And hello, the name? Red. Bull. What?! It seems though that it has this ability to make people stay awake, so I thought why not, I’m desperate. My colleague got me the normal one. One sip and oh my god….what is this drink?! Yucks! It tastes like ubat and somehow it has this dangerous vibe when I drink it. I see my colleagues happily gulping it down so fast, how do they do it???!
Well, already it tastes bad, towards the end of the day, my colleague had to tell me this:

“Don’t tell your parents you drank it k”
“What?????!!”
“It’s apparently dangerous”
“Omg omg, why? What the hell?! Why sekaramg baru tell?! Tak halal is it?! Whyyyyyy?! Is that why I feel a lil high and drunk now?”
“No lah! Diva betul! Apparently not good for our ovaries”
“Erm…ok. Since when did you become a Doctor? You came in this morning handling a loan hello. Sheeesh. Plus, not like I’m getting married tomorrow or something, so should be ok right?” (all paranoid already actually)
“Well. Preventing is better than cure, so let’s not risk our beautiful ovaries”
“Oooh, how do you know our ovaries are beautiful?”
“Hellooooo. Cause it’s us…every part and every organ is beautiful”

I miss being in the KL office! Even if it means that I was physically in the KL office but my head was in Semantan office today. Too many distractions today, oh why.

A step forward

Mandarin!!!
Yes! I just got an email from the company telling me that my Tuesday nights are taken for the next crazy-many weeks to come all dedicated to polishing up my Mandarin. They were talking about the Chinese economy and how important it is for me to be able to converse to these chinese investors in order to bring in more business. Indeed, it's true when they say you bring in more business when you can adapt to local environment and speak their language, and in their manner. But every Tuesday nighttttt? ......oh well, since they're paying, I guess I'm ok to sacrifice my time. Mandarin classes oh yay! *yawns*

When I was younger I used to have a chinese coach from China to train me as a gymnast. In gymnastics where majority of the athletes are chinese, I was sort-of forced to pick up mandarin words. Of course at that time I was like "whattttt?! I'm malayyyyy" and someone often had to be a translator between the coach and I, so much so that a scolding, once tranlated to me doesn't have the exact impact anymore :p

At a very young age of course you'd never fully understand the importance of being able to speak more than one language. Not until the age of 9 when I went for Umrah the first time and I was the only one who understood the very basic spoken language and writing. Thank god for sekolah agama!

Whilst based in Vietnam with some of my colleagues the past few days, I learnt that they have 5 different ways of saying a letter! Geeez.... It was fun learning it no doubt, but it was tough!! So susah, I decided to stick to sign languages. Lucky for us we had our local Vietnamese counterparts!

Omg...as I write this, my iPad buttons just became....malay. The ENTER button says KEMBALI. A sign I should stop babbling now. Boarding to Malaysia in 15 and straight to Vivy's bridal shower! Whooooopeee! Well....right now she thinks I am not flying back for her.

The very-tired-dowwan-to-do-anything-anymore banker who just wants to be based back in KL. I'm coming home :)

My lil Rifas

The thing I really miss about lil niece and lil nephew is the unconditional love and continuous hugs and kisses they give when I babysit them. I can really do with a cuddle and hug and a big kiss from my lil Rifas right about now!
I knew I should have packed them with me to this Vietnam trip.

Homesick nonsense

People close to me are quite used to this, so whenever it happens, they really just ‘layan’ me on the phone/skype/bbm/whatsapp. Whichever lah.

I’m a person who loves travelling, but for the life of me, homesick is something I can never learn to live with. I get homesick even when I am at work. Not only that, I get homesick even if it’s only ONE day that the company sends me for work away from KL. Funnily, I’ve developed this office sick nonsense too, where I get office sick when I am based outside of office. I still have Vietnam, Singapore and Jakarta to go to next.

However, there’s a cure for this. If someone close to me follows me on the trip. Definition of someone close is someone that my parents know very well or at least someone I’m close with that my parents know of. Either or would solve my homesick nonsense.

I cannot even begin to imagine when I get married. I get a lil scared thinking about it. Don’t girls get homesick once they’re married? Yes, whoever I marry will definitely be someone my parents have already known and hung out with so that’s solved right, but…but. But it’s just different. I know children these days would do a weekend visit to their parents or something like that, but I still think I’ll get homesick.  Good thing, my closest colleagues are on the same trip with me next.

Maybe I can turn that arrangement around. I see my husband on weekends instead! But then again, when the real time comes, I might just be husband sick on most days instead of homesick.

For now, I’ve asked for last flight out and first flight in when the company exports me off to Vietnam in a few days. APPROVED! WHOOPEEE!

Fairy tale office. Not.

If there’s one thing that I look forward to when I go to work is deals. Ok la, deals part of the time. But most of the time is getting through the day with my awesome colleagues. Where I work, there aren’t any gaps between us and the bosses, so being picked on by Mr Deputy CEO (who conveniently sits facing me) is perfectly normal. Communicating to them like your best buddies is perfectly fine too, so long as you know where to draw the line and complete all your tasks and carry out your responsibilities well.

What I love the most is there is never a day that goes by without us laughing our heads off! Insane! And the random surprises that we like to do for each other, I feel so so sooo loved at work. We’re so comfortable with each other, that they even know when…yeah, I have that time of the month, you know. That’s another story on its own.

This was what happened today when Muna and I both got too tired in the office!

Me:  How much do I owe you for Mr Sub?
(Since I conveniently brought down my handbag, with nothing inside. Getting old! :P)

Muna:  You owe me a castle full of ponies

Me: Can I come play there some time?

Muna: Yesssss…of course! Oh and unicorns

Me: Wonderful!

Muna: Psychoooooo

Me: Can I pretend to be Princess Alia?

Muna: Of course you can. I’m gonna be Princess Jasmine

Me: I’m gonna be Cinderella

Muna: Yayyy! You can clean my room!

Me:  -_____-
What the heaven?! It’s ok, I’ll ask from your Genie to make me the prettiest Princess and you can become my servant

Muna: Okkk chop. Z** not replying my email and I need the pronouncement now now!

Me: Mana ada pronouncements in fairy tale land? Tell Z** if he doesn’t give you the normal way, you’re gonna get Genie to prepare the pronouncement for you. Aladdin will come and help

Muna:  I’ll definitely get Genie to help me present on Thursday though. I haven’t prepared my presentation! Lol! Bangang la, we’re so silly!

….and it all started because I asked how much I owed her for lunch!
So silly, but yet I love this lil diva to bits! :)

Midnight crave

Was talking to Ikhwan and catching up, and we just had to talk about the good ol silly times. In school, in college, especially in uni and up till we started working - from the time our parents introduced us to each other in primary school! I've missed this boy!
Then came across this picture taken on my 21st birthday party in London! OMG, I want that Roti Tissue now from Awana.

Whoever studies in London, Awana is a must try ok! The chocolate roti tissue with cinnamon ice cream is to-die-for. Thank God for awesome friends who believe in doing birthday surprises at special places or I'll never ever step foot at Awana (as a student, I could not afford it!). Unless our sponsor chips in some birthday allowance into out monthly allowance, that would be awesome actually :P
