YCMS 2010 - Less than a week

Today will be the final Sunday. Next Sunday, I'd probably be the most exhausted person on earth! Why? This happens every other hour, and eyebags are my closest best friend at the moment - till December!

If you have just asked yourself that, then I'm so sure you guys have not yet registered for the 2nd Annual Young Corporate Malaysians Summit 2010 (YCMS). YES! It's next Saturday! That's exactly 6 days away! Slap yourself already if you did not realize that.

As the big day gets closer, it's still so clear in my head when we first brought back Malaysian Student Leaders Summit (MSLS) to Malaysia and I was very fortunate to be a part of the working committee. I used to not know anything about companies here in Malaysia albeit the fact that I am a Malaysian. Well at least not well versed about each one of them la and I never knew the significance of networking then. Something so crucial back here in Malaysia.

Perhaps because I wasn't properly exposed to them. Not until I joined the United Kingdom and Eire student council for Malaysian students (UKEC) back in London exactly 5 years ago. That opportunity truly opened up my eyes to the corporate world. The working world language. The working world people. The working world successful corporates and many of whom are leading some of the country's top firms today. All because I volunteered to explore, and how it works in UKEC during my time was that you are given a few companies and CEOs. Handle it and make sure you are successful in convincing them to appreciate your idea - to create a platform for our young corporate Malaysians to network with industry players and build a stronger corporate nation.

Trust me. If you are very passionate and you believe in the good initiative, naturally so will they. Along with that came the support and automatically you have just communicated with who may have been (and still is) the CEO of a certain company then :) Killing two birds with one stone much?

Today, MSLS is already 4 years old. Networking has grown massively. Platform for Malaysians to network has been established, and YCMS is turning 2 this 11th December 2010! If you guys had gone for last year's, you would know that it was very Malaysian centric. However, this year, we're going regional.

Think ASEAN: Emerging Opportunities and Challenges.

It is yet another valuable attempt by YCM to bring a new dimension of regional discussion to young Malaysian professionals. The summit will bring speakers and corporate partners from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Brunei. If it is of any interest to you, this year, the summit will be divided into four forums, exploring ASEAN in general, the rise of Indonesia, Islamic Banking in ASEAN and finally the position of our own beloved Malaysia in ASEAN.

There will be a very strong line up of speakers this year, and of course, an even bigger ratio of genius (potential) friends making their way there that you can network with too! Participating companies that you can (*coughs*) explore to look for jobs as well :P and opportunities for you to bombard and attack question the speakers. Perhaps you can even get some directions and insider information if you're smart to structure your questions *grins*. Like "Who's merging with who next?", "how much does XXX CEO earns?".

Okkkk, just an idea. I didn't tell you to purposely structure to attack them ok. Geez.

Well, the agenda is up! The speakers are confirmed. So what are you waiting for?

Register here now!

and I'll see you guys there. Don't forget to excess-print those business card of yours. You may never know, might just be sitting next to someone who will be the next future CEO in 5-10 years time! So start becoming best friends now :) Plus, what can be better than a regional network platform, with free admission!

As for me, this has become my part-time best friend that keeps me awake.
