That moment when you watch with envy, those people who have or seem
to have everything, living the lavish life. It’s a nice feeling really,
especially being around those very humble ones :) There’s something about me
feeling happy when I see someone happy, especially so when I see people in love
with their job. It sort of motivates me to work hard as well! And then I see
someone struggling to save money but at the same time he works hard to make
sure his family has the necessity and suddenly you feel like YOU have
everything.
As I was having lunch today I observed one of the security guards
that I usually see on duty going over to one of the food stalls, but all he
ordered was plain water. It was lunch time but that was all he had? Water at
work was something that you could get at the pantry for free, for staff. I’m
not too sure what is the arrangement for security guards though, whether they
have a pantry or not. It hurts to watch that happen right before my eyes, if
anything, I have never had the heart to see these sort of things. Or even a
family stranded by the roadside due to a breakdown. I used to ask my parents if
it was ok say one day I see someone stranded by the roadside and I give them a
lift. Of course in today’s world, even the nicest looking person can be
dangerous, I know.
And then a question hits me, if I were to get him food, would he
feel offended? In Malaysian culture, I’m sure the least they would do is to say
Thank You. In LRTs, I naturally would stand up if an elderly comes in, but I
was shocked when I was told to sit down back when I did the same in Paris. I
guess to them, for as long as THEY don’t gesture for you to get up then that
means they are capable and able to stand, hence standing up before you are told
to do so is rude to them.
Oh well, you’ll never know till you give it a go I guess, so what do
you do when you see the security guard picking up a chocolate muffin a few
minutes later?
Pay for him!!! :):):):)
The smile on his face was definitely worth more than the money spent
on him, MasyaAllah. I’m not joking when I say you can feel the warmth of his
smile :)
